Grass-Fed Beef

Program
Our cattle are fed 100% forage.  This includes grass and/or legumes from pasture during the growing season and stored forage during the winter.  The animals are not fed energy in the form of starch (e.g., cereal grains, corn silage, etc.).  There are no animal by-products or antibiotics in the feed.  Animals receiving antibiotic injections are removed from the grass-fed beef program.  Good things take time and as a result our animals graze for significantly longer than conventional-raised animals.

Benefits
Studies show that 100% grass-fed beef is:

  • Healthier
    • High in CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) – important in cancer prevention
    • Good ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3 essential fatty acids
    • High in Vitamin B6, B9, and B12 – contributors to proper function of the cardio vascular and nervous systems
    • Good source of iron – essential for growth and cognitive capacity
    • Low in unhealthy cholesterol and fat
  • Lean and tender
  • Good for the environment
    • Mob grazing encourages the growth of soil-building grass to prevent erosion and increases the organic matter in the soil
  • Forage/grass fed (no grain)
  • No feedlots, antibiotics, animal by-products in feed, or growth hormones
